Greater Whitsunday Alliance announces new Chief Executive Officer

Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kylie Porter as Chief Executive Officer.

GW3 Chairman John Glanville said it was an exciting time for the organisation, as GW3 continues to grow and be a respected advocate for the economic development of the region.

“Kylie was appointed as the Manager for Development + Innovation two years ago, and in that time, she worked with inaugural CEO Garry Scanlan to deliver a range of outcomes for the organisation, from preparing workforces of the future, diversifying the regional economy and improving regional innovation in the Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region”.

Mr Glanville said Kylie’s appointment came after a thorough independent recruitment campaign which received more than 50 applications from across the country.

“Kylie is a passionate voice for the region and is committed to seeing the region grow and thrive through strategic connections with government and industry.

“Along with her leadership skills, Kylie has a strong connection to the region and the board of GW3 is excited to have an experienced local who has an invested drive in making the Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region stronger for generations, take the helm of the organisation,” Mr Glanville said.

In addition to continuing GW3’s strategic focus areas of ensuring our region is prepared for the impacts of increased digital technology and pursuing a strong industry diversification agenda, Kylie is particularly looking forward to working with regional stakeholder groups.

“As a fifth generation local, I know that connections are everything and I am excited to further embed the organisation within key industry and community representatives across the region.

“To remain economically strong whilst at the same time work on transitioning our economy into new industries and focus areas requires a collaborative approach and I believe that GW3 is the perfect organisation to be leading this strategic direction.

“The opportunities for the Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region are incredible and I am very proud to be announced as the new Chief Executive Officer,” Ms Porter said.
