Greater Whitsunday Alliance Chairperson announces retirement
Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) Chairperson Mr John Glanville has announced his retirement after almost four years of championing the Mackay Isaac Whitsunday (MIW) region as the inaugural Chairperson.
Mr Glanville said it was time for him to retire and hand the reins to someone new with a strong passion for the MIW region.
“After nearly four years in the role, the time is right for me to hand the reins to someone with a passion for the region, who can continue to work with our three regional councils; the excellent GW3 Board of Directors; CEO and GW3 team to build on the structure and foundation we have in place.
“It is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right individual, and I look forward to ensuring a supportive and beneficial transition,” he said.
Mr Glanville said the first two years of the role was focused on establishing GW3 and making sure it was relevant and added value to the existing MIW industry and business groups.
“During this time, GW3 has matured significantly and focuses on strategic objectives that benefit the MIW region and provides us with economic opportunity and diversity both now and well into the future,” he said.
GW3 is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from suitable applicants who are ready to help lead the next phase of growth for the region with exciting projects to be delivered and opportunities to create.
Mr Glanville said the Chairperson role requires an experienced leader that is familiar with director and governance duties.
He said there a is a requirement for the successful candidate to have strong business insight and commercial experience, as well as demonstrated level of leadership qualities and people management skills.
Another critical part of the role is being driven to secure the future of the organisation through shrewd succession planning and sustainability measures.
“The key to success of this role is to have a strong knowledge of, and connection to the regions that GW3 represents,” said Mr Glanville.
