GW3 joins regional Australia promotion campaign
The Regional Australia Institute (RAI) will today officially launch the Regional Activators Alliance (RAA) – a new body designed to help create its national awareness campaign aimed at driving population to the regions.
GW3 CEO, Ms Kylie Porter says GW3 has joined the the alliance which is designed to raise awareness and lead important conversations about the importance of regions like Mackay Isaac Whitsunday to the national economy.
“Promoting Regional Australia is a shared responsibility, and GW3, along with other alliance members, will be at the forefront of this powerful national movement to change the narrative,” said Ms Porter.
“Each member of the alliance brings with them their own passion, insights and knowledge about their part of regional Australia to the table which will be invaluable and they will help to amplify the campaigns reach.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack will officially launch the Regional Activators Alliance via Zoom at 11am today.
“I have always said regional Australia is big enough in which to get a good cup of coffee, but small enough to care – and now is the time to make the move,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
“There are jobs, there is a better lifestyle and there is the opportunity to build a fresh start – Regional Australia is the best place to live, work and raise a family,” the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
RAA is made up of 36 representative organisations from across the country. These include local Councils, Regional Development Australia regions (RDAs), economic development groups and industry representatives.
“Regions like Mackay Isaac Whitsunday need to create a strong national profile to bust the myths that many people who live in metropolitan cities have around regional Australia. And to bust those myths, regions need to work together to showcase our outstanding employment, investment and liveability credentials,” said Ms Porter.

The campaign will be rolled out over 2021 and has attracted funding from the Federal Government.
Greater Whitsunday Alliance is the region’s peak, independent economic development body committed to making the Mackay, Isaac, Whitsunday region strong for generations.
