Greater Whitsunday industry and education leaders collaborate to rethink training and skills

Greater Whitsunday region industry and education leaders will explore how they can collaborate and address future skilling needs at the For Greater Training Mastermind event to be held on Thursday November 18.

GW3 are collaborating with the Research Chair of Automation and Future Work Skills, funded by BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) and CQUniversity and other education and training industry leaders, to ensure the region is leading the conversation about the changing needs of education, skills and training to meet industry demand.

GW3 Chief Executive Officer Ms Kylie Porter said GW3 has been delivering a range of education, skills and training activities, through the Queensland Government’s Regional Jobs Committee project.

“The For Greater Training Mastermind event will provide an opportunity to share existing knowledge and good practice but also focus on innovative future-proofing strategies. “As the Greater Whitsunday region continues to embrace technology across all industry sectors, it is vital to ensure that regional education and training opportunities address current future skilling needs.”

Ms Porter said the Regional Jobs Committee program is intended to bring together local industry groups, training providers, employers, as well as local government to identify key areas of employment growth and local training as well as skills and workforce development needs.

“The pace of industry transformation is unprecedented, and our region needs to ensure that the region’s workforces are skilled and are embracing these transformative opportunities.
