Some of the Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region’s change champions last week travelled to Canberra to meet with a range of parliamentarians and key advisors to discuss and showcase our region’s strong economic credentials and how it is at the forefront of embracing change.

Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) hosted a small delegation to Canberra on March 16, 17 and 18 to coincide with the Region’s Rising Summit delivered by the Regional Australia Institute.

Agribusiness Future Alliance connecting the region’s agribusiness sector.

Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) is leading the way to support the agriculture industry and to improve food systems within the Mackay Whitsunday Issac region through the Agribusiness Future Alliance Project.

GW3 CEO Ms Kylie Porter said Ms Shireen Pisters will lead the Agribusiness Future Alliance Project, after her appointment to the role in late 2020.

Ms Pisters has worked across many fields within the agricultural industry for the past 20 years, working in the Northern Territory in the Central and Top End; Broome in Western Australia and South Australia.

Roadmap Maps Pathway for Future Skills

Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) has today released the Greater Whitsunday Future Skills Roadmap which provides a summary of the skills and training required for the region in the future.

The Greater Whitsunday Future Skills Roadmap was a component of the Regional Jobs Committee project, funded by the Queensland Government’s Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT).

The roadmap includes recommendations under four key pillars to educate the region to ensure the Greater Whitsunday workforces remain adaptable, resilient, and employable in the future of work.

Greater Whitsunday Alliance holds AGM and officially welcomes new Chairperson

Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) recently held its 2019-2020 Annual General Meeting and officially welcomed Mackay business leader Tony Caruso as the new Chairperson of the GW3 board.

GW3 Chairperson, Mr Tony Caruso said the AGM was an opportunity for the organisation to reflect on the past twelve months of the organisation.

GW3 calls for better local content procurement policy

Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) and Queensland Local Content Leaders Network (QLCLN) is this week releasing their local content recommendations, after the group commissioned a research project to develop a better answer to the question ‘what is local?’.

Regional Projects Development Register update lists 489 projects in Mackay Isaac Whitsunday

Nearly $40 billion worth of projects have been listed on the Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) Regional Projects Development Register update released today.

The register lists 489 projects and highlights the project pipeline in the Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region.

Mackay has $1 billion in infrastructure projects planned and $2.7 billion in construction projects; Isaac has more than $15 billion in mining projects, as well as nearly $2 billion in utilities projects proposed; while Whitsunday has more than $6.7 billion in infrastructure projects planned and more than $8 billion in utilities.
