BMA-GW3 Transformation Region Partnership

The Transformation Region Project is a five-year strategic partnership between GW3 and BMA.

Partnering for a stronger, future-ready region.

The Transformation Region Project is a strategic partnership between BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) and Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3), working together to shape a resilient, diversified and future‑ready Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region.

Since the formation of the partnership in 2018, the project has delivered long-term value for the Mackay and Isaac regions by strengthening the foundations of a future-ready regional economy, supporting communities and businesses to navigate transition, and reinforcing the region’s important role in Queensland’s resources sector.

BMA’s position as a major employer, industry leader and community partner is central to this impact, enabling practical, industry-aligned initiatives that support workforce participation, strengthen local businesses, and create pathways for communities to access emerging opportunities.

The project focuses on initiatives that reinforce the competitiveness of the mining sector and build long‑term regional capacity.

Key projects being delivered with support from the BMA Partnership include:
