Greater Whitsunday Regional Jobs Committee Members.

The Queensland Government has established 12 Regional Jobs Committees (RJC) across the state to ensure regional communities are connected to workforce and skilling opportunities.

The Greater Whitsunday Regional Jobs Committee (RJC) Program coordinates regional communities, industry, and government to identify opportunities and challenges for local skills development, workforce participation and business growth.

The RJC is driven by locals, for locals, bringing together community leaders, businesses, training providers and industry representatives, to ensure training and employment solutions meet the needs of the region now and into the future.

Greater Careers Digital Workforce Campaign.

Earlier this year the Greater Careers Digital Workforce Promotional Campaign was launched which focused on how the region will need 3,000 digital professionals by 2030.

The series of videos was motivated on how we redirect workforce skills to meet the demands of a changing world through the attraction of digital talent.

These videos helped tell the story of region and change perceptions about the career opportunities in the Greater Whitsunday region.

Workforce Development Workshop.

Decarbonisation Accelerated Summit

As part of the Decarbonisation Accelerated Summit, Greater Whitsunday Regional Jobs Committee hosted the People Stream as part of the event’s breakout sessions.

Greater Whitsunday RJC Chair, Carissa Mansfield moderated the session which comprised of two presentations and one workshop.

Brett Hall and Pam Geekiyanage from the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) presented on the Queensland Workforce Strategy (QWS) and Clean Energy Workforce Roadmap (CEWR). Tracey Stinson from the Clean Energy Council presented on the clean energy jobs of the future, while Project Manager for the Greater Whitsunday RJC, Georgia Lavers, ran a workshop focused on the workforce challenges faced by the region and possible interventions.

This session was leveraged as an RJC Local Workforce Forum for the Mackay region to ensure adequate representation of local voices to steer the work of the RJC.

 

Workforce Navigator Newsletter.

The Greater Whitsunday RJC has developed a monthly newsletter called the Workforce Navigator. Through the newsletter, we aim to support local businesses with the latest business news and provide strategies to help address workforce challenges.

The newsletter will be used to connect local businesses with resources, events, and funding linked to the Queensland Workforce Strategy (QWS) and other relevant initiatives.

GW3 has partnered with the Queensland Government to deliver the Greater Whitsunday Regional Jobs Committee.
