GW3 Partnerships

In addition to the invaluable regional support received from Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday Regional Councils, GW3 has a range of strategic partnerships with both government and industry to deliver specific projects across the Greater Whitsunday region.

Mackay Regional Council

Mackay Regional Council is dedicated to creating a region where opportunity flourishes, while striving to become the best place for both liveability and livelihood. Mackay Regional Council works closely with its communities to build an environment where families, businesses, and individuals are supported to reach their full potential. The Council is committed to fostering a safe, healthy, connected, and sustainable community, where opportunities are realised and the lifestyle is second to none.

Whether for work or leisure, Isaac is a region where industry, community, and nature come together.

Whitsunday Regional Council

The Whitsunday Region spans 23,862 square kilometres and encompasses the major townships of Airlie Beach, Bowen, Cannonvale, Collinsville, and Proserpine, along with numerous rural and coastal communities scattered throughout the area. The Whitsunday Region is famous for being home to one of the world’s seven natural wonders, the Great Barrier Reef, and the stunning 74 Whitsunday Islands, including Hamilton Island, Daydream Island, and Hayman Island. But the region is much more than just a coral coast paradise—it also boasts extensive national parkland, ancient rainforests, and exotic wildlife. From lush cane fields to wide open valleys, mountainous ranges, and fertile agricultural pastures, the Whitsundays offer a diverse and spectacular landscape.

BMA

Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) and BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) current strategic partnership the Transformation Region Project supports the future economic prosperity of the Greater Whitsunday region. The Transformation Region Project is a five-year strategic partnership to support GW3’s regional communication and advocacy capacity and to continue to drive economic growth across the Greater Whitsunday region. The partnership is focused on preparing the region for the increasing impacts of technology and diversification opportunities for the region’s industries and workforces. The scope of the partnership is two-fold and includes enhancing the organisation’s capacity to effectively advocate, engage, and promote the region and also deliver a number of key projects which will have a positive impact on the region in the future.

Local Buying Foundation (LBF)

Queensland Government

Along with work across workforce and digital skilling GW3 and the Queensland Government collaborate within the 2023 Biofutures Leaders group.
