VULCAN MINE COMPLEX PROJECT
A project covering and area of 408 hectares, located on the Collinsville shelf on the central western margin of the Bowen Basin. Considered prospective for open cut mining, with depth ranging from surface to 100 m. High potential to discover more resource across a large project area. The major coal bearing German Creek/Moranbah Coal Measures are present on tenement along the eastern edge. Significant mesa hills formed by highly resistant sandstones have also provided target coal seams throughout the centre of the tenement. The Back Creek Group also overlies potential Blair Athol Coal Measure type deposits, throughout the western extents of the tenement. The area is characterised by reasonably benign regional structures with minor local deformation. The coal target will undergo open cut development via a single pit. The Project will operate for approximately 4 years and will extract approximately 6 Million tonne (Mt) of Run of Mine (ROM) hard coking coal at a rate of up to 1.95 Million tonnes per annum (Mtpa). The Project will target the Alex and multiple Dysart Lower coal seams. Truck and shovel mining operations will be employed to develop the pit.
