Andrew Wheaton brings over 30 years of experience in education leadership, both in Australia and internationally, to his role as Director of the GW3 Board. As Principal of Whitsunday Anglican School – a leading regional day and boarding institution – Andrew is committed to preparing young people for a rapidly evolving world through innovative, future-focused learning pathways.
Under his leadership, the school has recently launched a nationally recognised STEAM Centre, aligning education with local industry needs in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. This initiative reflects Andrew’s strategic vision for connecting education with economic development across the region.
A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a current Board Director with Independent Schools Queensland, Andrew brings strong governance acumen and a deep understanding of the capabilities required for the workforce of the future.
Having grown up in rural Australia, he is passionate about enhancing opportunities for regional youth and strengthening the links between education, innovation, and industry. His appointment as Director of the GW3 Board reinforces the organisation’s commitment to building a future-ready Greater Whitsunday region.
